Kochi (CBCI News): The Youth Commission of the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) yesterday launched a yearlong program in connection with the Year of Faith.
While inaugurating the program at the Pastoral Orientation Center in Kochi, commission chairperson Bishop Joseph Pandarasserril said, “With the lifestyle based on faith and Christianity, youth should come forward and take initiative in uplifting society and become Messengers of faith in the community they live.” Youth representatives from 30 dioceses in the state and other delegates attended the function.
During the two-day Leaders Meet held in POC, Bishop Pandarasserril also announced the official name of the yearlong celebrations, ‘Living Signs’ and unveiled the logo and website (www.kcbcyuva.com) of KCBC Commission for Youth.
The yearlong “Youth Year of Faith” celebrations will be celebrated across the state with the theme ‘Youth – Living Signs of the Risen Lord." The celebrations will conclude on November 13, 2013 with the All Kerala Catholic Youth Meet in Kochi. The programs are being organized at different levels with the cooperation of various youth organizations under KCBC Commission for Youth.
Fr. Jaison Kollannur, Secretary, KCBC Commission for Youth, Fr. Setphen Alathara, Deputy Secretary, KCBC, Fr. Jose Kottayil, Secretary, KCBC Family Commission and Sony Pavelil, Program General Convener, spoke at the event.
The Youth Year of Faith celebrations, will include study classes in parishes, meeting of -bled youth, young professionals meet, youth colloquium, symposium, and other programs. The yearlong activities are being organized as part of the ‘Year of Faith’ celebration announced by Pope Benedict XVI in Vatican last month.
