Bishop Mar Mathew Vattackuzhy, Bishop Emeritus of Kanjirapally, passed away
Most Rev. Mar Mathew Vattackuzhy, Bishop Emeritus of Kanjirapally, passed away on November 22, 2016, at 03.30 p.m.
Bishop Mar Mathew Vattackuzhy was the second Bishop of Kanjirapally. He was born on 20.02.1930 and was ordained Priest on 01.06.1956. He served as Vicar General and Diocesan Administrator from 12.05.1977 to 19.12.1986. He was appointed Bishop on 20.12.1986 and served until 19.01.2001.
The mortal remains will be placed in St. Dominic’s Cathedral, Kanjirapally, at 10.00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
The funeral is scheduled for 2.00 p.m. on Thursday, November 24, 2016, at St. Dominic’s Cathedral, Kanjirapally.
While we place on record the gratitude of the Church in India for his long and laborious services to the Church in India, let us pray that the Good Lord may grant him eternal repose and share in His Glory.
