Archbishop of Archdiocese of Guwahati

Most Rev. John Moolachira is the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guwahati, known for his calm pastoral leadership and long-standing service to the Church in Northeast India. Having served as priest, bishop, and later archbishop, he has played an important role in guiding the faithful through mission-focused and spiritually rooted ministry. His leadership reflects dedication to evangelization, pastoral care, and strengthening the Church’s presence in the region.

Most Rev. John Moolachira is the current Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guwahati. He succeeded Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil SDB and continues to lead the archdiocese with a mission-centered approach.

He previously served as the Bishop of Diphu, and later as Coadjutor Archbishop of Guwahati, before taking full responsibility as Archbishop. His episcopal motto is “Thy Kingdom Come”, reflecting his spiritual vision and dedication to the mission of the Church.
