CBCI Plenary Assembly Rescheduled
CBCI President Cardinal Oswald Gracias has informed in a letter that the CBCI Pleanary Assembly scheduled to have been held in Palai from Feb 19-26 has been rescheduled. His letter below cites the new dates and the reasons for the change:
Your Eminence/Grace/Excellency,
Warm greetings to each one of you! We had very refreshing meetings with the Holy Father. He has already fixed the dates of our next two meetings indicating that he wants us to continue working intensely.
The Holy Father intends calling a Meeting of all the Cardinals in February 2014. The dates clash with our CBCI Plenary Assembly.
After discussing the matter with the Bishop of Palai, Bishop Joseph Kallarangatt, our local host, and the Office Bearers, it was felt best to anticipate the dates of our Meeting. The CBCI Plenary Assembly will therefore be held on February 5-12, 2014 and not from February 19-26, 2014 as announced earlier. The Standing Committee Meeting will be held on February 4 (evening).
I personally apologize to each of our Bishops for the inconvenience which we have caused to you i.e. having to change your travel arrangements, engagements in the diocese and other programmes. However, in view of the liturgical calendar, the dates of the Holy Father’s Meetings could not be changed.
Thanking you and with kind regards and best wishes, I remain
Yours fraternally in Christ,
XOswald Cardinal Gracias
Archbishop of Bombay & President, CBCI
