It is with great sorrow that I inform you about the sad demise of Archbishop Emeritus Most Rev. Peter Fernando. He left for his Heavenly abode on 31st December, 2016 at 11.15 a.m at Leuca Hospital, Moondrumavadi, Madurai.
Most Rev. Dr. Antony Pappusamy, the Archbishop of Madurai, who has sent us this sad news has also informed us that the Body of our dear departed prelate will be kept for paying homage at the Archbishop’s House Chapel till 11 a.m. on 1st January, 2017, after which the body will be taken to St. Mary’s Cathedral, Madurai. The Funeral Mass is scheduled to take place there at 3.30 p.m. on 1st January, 2017. His body will be shifted to the Cathedral of Tuticorin where the Burial Mass will take place on 2nd January , 2017 at 10 a.m.
Our heartfelt condolences to the Archbishop, Priests, Religious and Faithful of the Archdiocese of Madurai, while we thank God for the gift of Archbishop Emeritus Most Rev. Peter Fernando, we also pray for the repose of his soul.
