Secretary, CBCI Office for Education and Culture, reaches out to the Northern and Southern Regions

22nd February 2018: Meeting with the heads of Syro Malankara Catholic Educational Institutions of the Country and all the Bishops of the Syro Malankara Synod in Trivandrum:

This meeting on the 22nd February 2018 was attended by all the Syro Malankara Bishops of India and those in charge of Education from all the Syro Malankara institutions in the Country. At this meeting too the current educational concerns were discussed. A report regarding the progress regarding Implementation of the All India Catholic Education Policy 2007 and its impact on the Catholic schools and colleges was presented by Fr. Joseph Manipadam SDB, the Secretary of the CBCI Office for Education and Culture. An appeal was made to all heads of institutions to participate in the ongoing evaluation of implementation of the Catholic Education Policy so that our focus of education remains in favour of the empowerment of the poor and needy children ensuring value based education that caters to faith formation and formation of character. There were about 12 Bishops and some 100 fathers, sisters and Laity who were Principals / Managers of educational institutions of the Syro Malankara ritual Church.

2nd and 3rd March 2018: Animation for the Heads of Colleges and Schools of Andhra Pradesh at Loyala College, Vijayawada:

150 participants attended the orientation programme organized at the Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada along with the Bishops Prakash Mallaverampu and T. Raja Rao of Vizakhapattanam and Vijayawada respectively. The programme was organized by Fr. Francis Xavier SJ and Fr. V.K.Swamy the joint secretary and secretary of the Telegu Region respectively. The orientation and animation was done by the Bishops and Fr. Joseph Manipadam on the importance of implementing the Catholic Education Policy so as to reach out to the poor and needy children and to impart value based education to all and Faith formation for catholic Students. The current problems faced in the area of education in the country was also dealt with.

4th March 2018: Visits to the Catholic Education Institutions of Vijayawada:

On 4th March The CBCI Secretary for Education, made a round of the Catholic institutions of Vijayawada run by the Diocese as well as the Religious Congregations. The network of educational institutions run for the street children by the Salesians was very impressive. By and large Vijayawada is an educational hub of the Telugu region and the institutions give a lot of opportunity for the poorer children to study and come up in life as good and honest citizens.

9th and 10th March 2018: Animation for the Heads of Colleges and Schools of Rajasthan at the Bishop’s House in Jaipur :

120 participants attended the orientation programme organized at the Bishop’s House in Jaipur along with the Bishops Oswald Lewis, Pius T. D’Souza, and Devprasad Ganawa of Jaipur, Ajmer and Udaipur respectively. The programme was organized by Fr. Soosai Manickam  secretary of the State of Rajasthan. The orientation and animation was done by the Bishops and Fr. Joseph Manipadam on the importance of implementing the Catholic Education Policy so as to reach out to the poor and needy children and to impart value based education to all and Faith formation for catholic Students. The current problems faced in the area of education in the country was also dealt with.
