Archbishop Peter Paul Prabhu passed away.

Your Eminence/Grace/Excellency,
I am instructed by our Apostolic Nuncio, His Grace, Most Rev. Salvatore Pennacchio, to inform the Bishops of India of the sad demise of His Excellency, Msgr. Peter Paul Prabhu, Apostolic Nuncio, Titular Archbishop of Tituli of Numidia, who passed away during the night between 9th and 10th September in Rome, at the Santa Martha House in the Vatican.
Archbishop Peter Paul Prabhu was born in Chennai on 20th March 1931, and was ordained priest on 20th December 1955 for the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore. He entered the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on 1st July 1962 and was appointed at the Apostolic Nunciatures of Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Chile, France and Sudan. On 2nd July 1987, he was appointed as Under-Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Migrants and Itinerant People in Rome. On 13th November 1993, he was elected titular Archbishop of Tituli of Numidia and appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Zimbabwe. He was consecrated Bishop on 6th January 1994. On 1st July 2002 he retired from the diplomatic service and was residing at Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican.
May the Good Lord whom Archbishop Peter Paul Prabhu served with love and dedication, grant him eternal rest and welcome him to His glory. The Church in India mourns over the death of one of her illustrious sons at the service of the universal Church. May his soul rest in Peace!
